Inospectra has become the official partner and representative of the Lithuanian start-up Atrandi Biosciences in the Baltic States. The biotechnology company designs and develops innovative instruments, reagents, and software, enabling scientific and industrial professionals to analyze complex biological samples at single-cell or molecule resolution more efficiently.
“We are very proud to represent the innovative technologies developed by the Atrandi team, which open new application possibilities in scientific and industrial fields. We look forward to offering our customers in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia top-level droplet microfluidics and Semi-Permeable Capsules (SPCs) technological equipment, which will stimulate and contribute to new discoveries.” , – says Dainius Vasiliauskas, director of Inospectra.
The technologies developed by the Atrandi team provide unprecedented opportunities for high-throughput sample preparation and analysis in sequencing, artificial intelligence and personalized medicine.
Droplet microfluidics
Droplet microfluidics technology is based on breaking the reaction into picoliter and nanoliter droplets. Individual cells or molecules can be isolated in such droplets for further analysis. Thousands of droplets can be generated in one second, enabling high-throughput analysis of biological samples.
Droplet microfluidics technology has already gained momentum in biological, biomedical, and biotechnological sciences and accelerates scientific research because it allows for the highest resolution of a single cell or molecule.
Many laboratories worldwide choose this technology because of its flexibility—any molecular test can be performed using any reagent. Cost-effectiveness—low volumes significantly reduce reagent costs. Sensitivity—high local concentration increases detection efficiency. Speed—high-throughput screening accelerates data collection. In addition, millions of cells or molecules can be analyzed in a few hours, and the precise size of each droplet results in reliable and reproducible results.
Droplet microfluidics technology can be applied in research involving reagent addition steps, single-cell sequencing, antibody discovery, microbial analysis, new drug development, and synthetic microenvironment control.
Semi-Permeable Capsules (SPCs)
Semi-permeable capsules (SPCs) are an advanced technology revolutionizing microfluidics-based multi-step workflows. SPCs are composed of an aqueous core surrounded by a hydrogel shell. The envelope acts as a selective membrane, allowing the free exchange of a minor reaction component while maintaining the breakdown of individual cells or biomolecules.
Semipermeable capsules are made of biocompatible polymer. They can be frozen, thawed, centrifuged, and used with many chemical solutions. Subsequent reactions of millions of semipermeable capsules can be performed in bulk, as can high-throughput screening molecular analysis.
Many laboratories worldwide choose this technology because it allows for multi-step single-cell studies, increasing their fragmentation and optimizing each reaction in the workflow. In addition, this technology is not only easily compatible with various types of cells and biochemical reactions. It provides excellent conditions for optimal cell growth, allowing easy addition of nutrients and removal of waste, releasing intact nucleic acids or living cells, and high throughput in problem sampling studies using mass survey methods.
Semipermeable capsule technology can be applied to microbial DNA sequencing and liquid culture colony studies.
Areas of application
Digital Analysis
Droplet Barcoding
Labelling individual droplets with unique oligonucleotides enables high-throughput screening analysis of large populations of cells or molecules. This method allows the simultaneous analysis of tens of thousands of droplets in one experiment and provides a detailed picture of biological processes or molecular interactions.
